Plan ahead: see which day of the week each birthday falls on.
The countdown measures the time from now until midnight at the start of your next birthday, on your own device’s clock. The big numbers show days, hours and minutes, and the seconds keep ticking in the card below. If today is your birthday, the countdown says so instead of starting a year-long wait.
Leave the year blank if you only want the countdown. Add it, and you’ll also see the age you’re about to turn and the number of each birthday in the list of upcoming dates. Nothing you type leaves your device. The page simply remembers your entry in its own address, so you can bookmark your personal countdown or send it to friends.
Every year your birthday moves one day later in the week, because 365 days is 52 weeks plus one day. When a 29 February falls between one birthday and the next, it jumps two days instead. Here is how that looks for a birthday on 14 August:
| Year | 14 August falls on |
|---|---|
| 2026 | Friday |
| 2027 | Saturday |
| 2028 | Monday |
| 2029 | Tuesday |
The jump of two days between 2027 and 2028 happens because 29 February 2028 comes before that August birthday. In the Gregorian calendar the whole pattern repeats every 28 years, as long as no century year that isn’t a leap year (like 2100) falls in between. So a birthday in 2026 will fall on the same weekday in 2054.
The Your next birthdays card above lists your next six birthdays with their weekdays. It’s handy for planning a party or booking time off well in advance.
The same wait sounds very different depending on the unit:
If your birthday is 29 February, you only get a true birthday once every four years. In the other years the calculator counts 28 February as your birthday by default, which keeps it in February. Some people prefer 1 March, and some laws use it too, so you can switch. Read more in our guide to leap day birthdays.
Turning a round number this year? Check your exact age in days: your 10,000th day or 20,000th day might be close, and those make memorable extra celebrations. For everything else about your age, from the day of the week you were born to your star sign, use the main age calculator.

Enter your birthday above and the countdown shows the days, hours and minutes left, counting to midnight at the start of your birthday in your own time zone. It keeps ticking while the page is open.
No. The countdown only needs the day and month. Add the year if you’d like to see the age you’re about to turn and the number of each upcoming birthday.
At 00:00 on your birthday, on your device’s clock. If you’re travelling, it follows whatever time zone your phone or computer is set to.
A common year has 365 days, which is 52 weeks and 1 day, so a date moves forward one weekday each year. When a 29 February comes between one birthday and the next, it moves forward two days instead.
By default the countdown treats 28 February as your birthday in common years. You can switch to 1 March in the options that appear when you enter a 29 February birthday. Our leap day birthdays guide explains both conventions.
