This policy explains what happens to your information when you use ageculator.com (“Ageculator”, “we”, “us”). We’ve kept it short and specific.
The short version
- Calculations run entirely in your browser. The dates and numbers you type aren’t sent to us.
- There are no accounts, and we don’t ask for your name or contact details.
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It sets cookies; it never sees what you type into a calculator.
- If you email us, we use your message only to reply.
What you type into the calculators
Everything you enter, such as a date of birth, is processed by code running on your own device. It isn’t sent to our servers or anyone else’s, and we don’t store it.
To make results easy to bookmark and share, the calculators add your inputs to the page address, for example
?dob=1995-08-14. That means:
- The address, including those dates, may be saved in your browser history like any other web address.
- If you share a link, anyone who opens it can see the dates in it.
- When a page with dates in its address is opened or reloaded, your browser sends the full address to our hosting provider as part of the normal request for the page. We don’t use these addresses to identify anyone.
If you’d rather not keep your dates in the address, clear the form before closing the page, or use your browser’s private browsing mode.
Preferences saved on your device
We remember two display preferences using your browser’s local storage: whether you prefer the light or dark theme, and your preferred date format (day/month/year or month/day/year). They stay on your device, aren’t sent to us, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
Cookies
Ageculator’s own code doesn’t set cookies. Google Analytics, described below, sets first-party cookies (named _ga
and _ga_…) to tell visits apart. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, or install Google’s
opt-out browser add-on.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits, see which pages are useful and find problems. It collects information such as the pages you view, roughly where you are (country or city), your device and browser, and how you arrived, and it uses cookies to recognise repeat visits. Google processes this data on our behalf under its privacy policy. Google Analytics never receives what you type into a calculator; the inputs in the page address are processed only in your browser. We don’t use this data for advertising.
Our host also measures page load speed with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t track you across sites.
Hosting and security
Ageculator is hosted by Cloudflare, which delivers our pages from servers around the world and protects the site against abuse. To do this, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the address requested, as described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We don’t use this information to identify you.
Advertising
We don’t currently show ads. If we add advertising in the future, we’ll update this policy before we do, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Emails you send us
If you email hello@ageculator.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use them only to read and reply to you, and we delete messages when they’re no longer needed. We never sell or share them.
Children
Ageculator is a general-audience website. Because the calculators don’t collect personal information, children can use them without sharing any data with us. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, data protection laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct and delete personal information about you, and to object to how it’s used. Because we don’t collect personal information through the site, there’s usually nothing for us to provide. For emails you’ve sent us, write to hello@ageculator.com and we’ll help. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above before the change takes effect.
